Hey guys! Now I know that was a heading you weren’t expecting to see from a book blogger, and no it is not clickbait! I’m really here to admit that I’m probably the worst book blogger on these internet streets right now. It’s not everyday people so willingly own up to the crappy parts about them but hey, a girl has got to be honest, right? So why would I give myself the accolade of being the worst book blogger?
Here’s why.
I fail my own reading challenges
At the beginning of the year, I shared the books I planned to read in 2021. Like most, I was suffering from the hangover of a very chaotic 2020. But also, I knew the new year was about to get very busy for me, plus I had failed in previous years to complete my TBR list, so I came into 2021 with already pretty low expectations for myself, put only six books on the list.

So, how have I done so far? Well, I have completed four books (not all on the list), but that’s not four whole books. It’s actually one whole and six halves!

I’m bad at Goodreads
So, everyone knows that Goodreads is THE social media platform for bibliophiles. So you’d think as a book blogger I’d be smart enough to focus my efforts on building that profile right? Well not only am I terrible at making Goodreads friends, but I also regularly forget to upload my book reviews.
Having said that, please don’t let that stop you from befriending a sis. It’s Madeline Wilson-Ojo on Goodreads 🙂
My last book review was three months ago.
Guys can you believe that! It seems after Slay In Your Lane, I pressed the pause button on book reviews, and forgot to press play again. Yes I know it’s bad, but please don’t blame me. I just have not been in the right headspace lately, and getting through my reading list has been a struggle! Between personal life “stuff” to all the latest major headlines on the news and on social media, there’s been a lot to process, and it has not left room for much else.
I’ve run out of pretty looking books for the grid
Look, I know this is a real superficial reason, but everyone knows that part of what goes into establishing yourself as a book blogger is having a popping bookstagram. But alas, I have no more books to display on my Instagram account. Of course, I could recycle the books already on my bookshelf, but where’s the fun in that? One of the reasons I haven’t showcased a gorgeous pile of books sitting nice and pretty next to a coffee mug lately is because many of my recent purchases have been audiobooks – and anyone who loves books would know they are less fun to shoot!

So there you have it! My reasons for admitting I’m the worst book blogger. However, before you cancel my blogging membership I’d like for you to know that I have challenged myself to complete all the books I’ve started. So at least for the next few weeks, you’ll be getting some fierce reviews – not just of any book but the kind that will edify you and add some power to your soul. So stay tuned.
It can and it will get better!
