Can you remember all the things you wanted to achieve as a kid? I can.
At the age of ten, I wanted to be a writer. At age twelve or thirteen that changed into a newscaster, then a computer analyst (a made-up role that just sounded good in my ears), then a teacher and journalist. By the time I was in my early twenties, I was set on becoming a diplomat, and now as a woman in her early thirties, I am back to being passionate about my writing career (amongst other things!)
We all have those ultimate life ambitions – the things we want to achieve more than anything else. Although the route to achieving your life goals may need adjusting every so often, the goals themselves tend to stay the same – or come full circle as mine has. What are your goals, and how do you ensure you smash them?
Smash Your Goals in Three Steps
A Clear Home Is A Clear Mind
The first thing that you need to think about is the fact that a clear home makes a clear mind. A messy environment, where things are consistently broken, dirty or out of place can make it difficult to navigate your own thoughts.
Life can get crazy and I get it, but sis! Get some kind of system in place where you are giving your home a regular clean, and ensuring that everything is in working order. For example, if you notice your curtains are dirty or that your ac is broken, make a note of the fact that you’ll need to set some time aside for a spring clean, or for looking up emergency ac repairs.
Or, if cleaning isn’t your thing and you would rather hire someone else to do this for you, then do it. There is nothing wrong with hiring someone to clean your home, especially if you don’t have the time to do it yourself because you are too busy pursuing your goals.
Watch What You Read
Something else that you are going to need to think about is what you read. If you think about it, what you read will help to shape the way that you think. I have spent the majority of April reading books such as Black Girl Finance and Kubi Springer’s I am My Brand (watch out for the reviews) because I know they’ll ultimately help me find clarity on my intentions, and smash those goals.

Reading the right material will shape you as a person. If you’ve lost your reading mojo and need to take baby steps, restart the habit by reading articles or blog posts.
Set Yourself Simple Tasks First
Finally, try to break your goals into a succession of small wins or tasks that can be easily achieved, and that will drive you closer to your goal. Whenever you complete one, treat yourself – whether it’s rewarding yourself with a day off or buying those shoes you’ve always wanted, do something nice for yourself. Trust me when I say that it is going to make you feel good, and motivated to complete the next step. Just make sure you’re making these goals realistic and achievable. At the end of the day, you can’t come and kill yourself!
I hope that you have found these steps helpful, and now see some of the ways that you can go about meeting your life goals. There are so many different things that come together to help you achieve the plans that you have set, and it’s important that you are doing as many of them as possible.
Good luck sis! I hope that you get exactly where you want to be. But before you leave share some of your 2021 goals in the comments.
