I have been itching to post this review as I’ve followed The Britpop Princess for years and have watched her evolve into the brand, businesswoman, wife and mother that is Patricia Bright. And now she is a whole author! I listened to the audiobook, and the first remarkable thing I noticed was Patricia’s familiar tone. This made me warm to the book from the onset and gave me flashbacks to that vlog where she filmed the days she did the recording.
Anyway, enough fangirling. Now for the review.
Reminiscent of #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, The book is a mainly autobiographical one which traces her journey from the child who saw her father getting deported by the authorities and her mother single-handedly hustling her way from cleaner to owning a portfolio of properties, to the self-assured woman we see now, who speaks confidently to almost 3 million YouTube subscribers, manages her own businesses and family. But more than just being a book about her life, Heart & Hustle is a motivational and inspirational read, where Patricia uses her experiences to show readers how to kill it in life.
Patricia Bright has always brought value to her audience, be it entertainment, information or just full belly laughter, and this book is no different. Her wealth of experience as an employee at some of London’s top offices and as well as a content creator/entrepreneur means what she has to share is useful to everybody, no matter what route to success they’ve chosen for themself.
“It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. And I am rooting for you!
– Patricia Bright
The scope of Heart & Hustle is wide-ranging and covers a plethora of subjects such as finding your personal style, creating wealth and the importance of building a following on social media. The accounts of her personal story are peppered with her suitably named Life Lessons, nuggets of wisdom which gives readers something to digest. For example, “associate with people who are doing what you want to do.”

I admired Patricia Bright’s openness, even at the moments in her life where she took a massive L; not only does she speak about her father’s deportation but she also elaborates extensively about the time she was made redundant, and that other time an innocent tweet resulted in her receiving a barrage of hate.
My biggest takeaway from Heart & Hustle is that you have to be intentional about your come up: you need to know your why, and your what. Another thing I learned is that your path to success is about your hustle as much as it is about your heart; work hard but not to the point of being robotic – hence the title!
What makes Heart & Hustle stand out is that we all know for certain that it’s not a book built from fairy dust. We have all literally seen Patricia’s Bright grow up with us before our eyes. Also, some of the stories she tells are the same ones she has recounted before in her videos. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is serious about elevating their lives, or those who just love The Britpop Princess.
